Arguments for and against Penn State softball's NCAA Tournament chances

Penn State lost in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament to the No. 10 seed Maryland on Wednesday. This game was forced into extra innings, but eventually, Maryland pulled away for a final score of 3-1.

After this first round exit, Penn State’s NCAA Tournament hopes have dwindled significantly.

The Nittany Lions went 1-5 in their last two regular season series matchups, getting swept by Michigan and winning only once against Rutgers.

A few weeks earlier, the squad went 0-2 against Ohio State and lost once against Wisconsin as well. This led the blue and white to finish 12-11 in conference play.
