STOCKTON – Effort kept the Pacific men’s basketball team in the game.
Cold shooting prevented the Tigers from pulling off a stunning upset.
Kyle Wiltjer scored 23 points and Domantas Sabonis grabbed 20 rebounds to lead perennial West Coast Conference power Gonzaga to a 71-61 win over the Tigers in front of 4,309 on Saturday at Spanos Center.
Pacific (6-13, 4-5 West Coast Conference) gave an inspired effort as a double-digit underdog and led by as many as five points in the second half. But the Zags (15-5, 7-2) went on an 11-0 run late in the game and held on to split its Northern California road trip after losing Thursday at Saint Mary’s.
