The Peterson family hasn’t exhaled yet, but is optimistic as son Tanner Peterson has made tremendous progress in his battle with cancer.

Peterson, a Sierra High graduate and a freshman shortstop on the Modesto Junior College baseball team, discovered lumps in his chest and neck area in December 2015. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and went through chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Peterson’s cancer is currently in remission. And he’s never left the diamond. Peterson has played in 30 games for Modesto.

Around the time Peterson graduated from Sierra, playing through his cancer fight, his treatment ended and he was scheduled for one check-up every three months for the next two years.
