Alexa Garcia of Sierra High fought through the consolation bracket and ended up with a nice spot on the podium at the CIF State Wrestling Championships.
After losing her quarterfinals match to Hollie Espinoza of Rancho Cotate the day before, Garcia rallied and beat Espinoza by a 4-2 decision in the third-place match. Garcia went 6-1 in the tournament, the best record of the area wrestlers.
Kodiak Stephens of Bret Harte captured fourth place after losing the 182-pound third-place match to Javen Jovero of Rancho Bernardo.
At 195 pounds, Donivan Giangregorio of Calaveras took seventh place.
