Red-hot Mustangs sweep their way to state final four
SACRAMENTO – It didn’t take long for Delta to let Cosumnes River know the Mustangs’ red-hot bats were not about to cool down anytime soon.
After pounding out 18 hits in their Game 1 victory Friday, the Mustangs continued the barrage Saturday afternoon with 15 hits, including a key pair of first inning home runs, to hand Delta a 13-4 victory over the Hawks to sweep their California Community College Athletic Association Northern Sectional Regional best-of-three series at Cosumnes River's Conway Field.
Delta earned its third consecutive and fifth trip since 2009 to the final four of the CCCAA state championships next Saturday to May 30 at Fresno City College.
