University of the Pacific’s softball team swept its way into the new season.
The Tigers started the 2020 season by beating UC Riverside 7-1 and Utah State 3-1 on Friday in Fullerton. Pacific (2-0) continues the round-robin event when it meets host Cal State Fullerton at 5:30 p.m. today and Middle Tennessee State at 10 a.m. Sunday.
The Tigers scored seven times in the top of the seventh against Riverside. They were trailing 1-0 when third baseman Ralene Estrada gave them the lead with a two-run double. Hannah Krosky had an RBI triple in the inning and Caitlyn Sung had an RBI single, and Pacific scored three runs in the inning on errors.
