STOCKTON — The undersized Delta Mustangs battled Butte College in Friday's opening round of the Delta Holiday Classic but the defending champions lost when their shooting went cold down the stretch at Joe Blanchard Gymnasium.
The Mustangs lost the battle at the free-throw line as well, getting 29 fewer attempts, in their 81-72 defeat. Delta next plays at 3 p.m. today against Merced, which lost to Cabrillo.
