Stockton, Calif. - Pacific freshman guard Ameela Li was named West Coast Conference women's basketball Player of the Week Monday after helping the Tigers to two wins last week.
The Piedmont, Calif., native was asked to step up and fill in at starting point guard starting last Saturday and responded with double-figure scoring and a new career-high in assists in each game. She totaled 22 assists in three starts, including 16 in two games last week. In last week's games she averaged 11.0 points and shot .588 from the field.
In Li's first career start, against San Jose State on Saturday, she set career-highs in points (12), rebounds (8) and assists (6) in the Tigers' 81-69 win.
