Heat comes out on short end of scoring spree

The Stockton Heat played a back-and-forth contest Friday night in Des Moines, Iowa, with the last team to score taking the victory.

The Heat was not that team.

Stockton and Iowa played to a 7-7 tie at the end of regulation, with the Wild finding the net in overtime to come away with an 8-7 win.

Curtis Lazar scored twice for the Heat, which also got goals from Mike McMurtry, Matthew Phillips, Tyler Graovac, Kerby Rychel and Buddy Robinson.

Iowa had an early 2-0 lead, with Stockton retaliating with three straight scores. The Wild scored three of the next four goals, but the Heat added another trio of goals to post their final lead of the contest.
