STOCKTON — Delta College's baseball team once again had the one big inning that usually rattles its opponents.

This time was different. The Mustangs couldn't add to their sizable lead, and Cosumnes River came up with a couple of big hits to deliver a stunning victory.

Delta scored seven times in the third inning but it wasn't enough, as Brian Morley hit a three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give the Hawks an 8-7 win on Thursday at Nick Cecchetti Field. The victory gave Cosumnes River (13-7, 4-1 Big 8 Conference) possession of first place over the Mustangs (19-3, 6-2).
