The Delta College men and women’s swim teams competed at this weekend’s Big 8 Championships, breaking five school records and taking four event titles in all.
The women took third in the meet, held at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. The men’s team, meanwhile, finished fourth.
In the women’s competition, Maddie Wittkowske won the 500 freestyle, the 200 free and the 1650 free. Wittkowske’s times in all three events have her ranked first in the state, and the swimmer’s markers in the 200, 1650 and the 1000 free broke school records.
She was also part of the 800 free relay team - along with Leti Mosqueda, Natalee Lamie and Hunter Luna - that won the conference title and whose school-record time ranks No.
