STOCKTON – For the second time in their volleyball careers at Delta College, Amilya Thompson and Kelly Markham are headed for the state championships.
But this time they will be outside, in the sand.
The sophomores became the first Mustangs to qualify for the state tournament in the second year of the beach volleyball program at the school. They begin their quest for a title in pool play at 8 a.m. today at the Elite Athletic Training Center in Chula Vista.
They played together on the 2017 Delta indoor team, which finished second in the state under head coach Molly Mordaunt-Hummel, and will get one more shot at adding to their resumes before heading off to four-year colleges.
