STOCKTON – There’s nothing like a big first inning to make a coach relax.
Delta College head coach Reed Peters watched the Mustangs score six times in the bottom first inning and go on to a 12-3 win against Cosumnes River in their CCCAA Northern California Super Regional series on Thursday at Delta’s Nick Cecchetti Field. Delta (36-7) can close out the best-of-3 series at 2 p.m. today as undefeated Robert Gasser (12-0, 1.89 ERA) pitches for the Mustangs.
The Hawks (25-19) made things interesting against Delta starter Kevin Kyle (11-2) in the top of the first inning, loading the bases with two outs before Kyle got out of the jam.
