STOCKTON — Their conversation began with track and field.
But in moments, Eric Sloan and Roderick Townsend were talking Stockton, passive income and retirement planning. Nearby, Townsend’s wife, Tynita Butts, went through warm ups on a cloudy afternoon at San Joaquin Delta College.
The trio of talented jumpers is in Stockton to compete in the Raydell Barkley Field Events Festival at 1 p.m. today at the Merv Smith Track Complex at Delta’s DeRicco Field. Delta women’s track and field coach Lauryn Jordan-Seales helped put together the festival in honor of Barkley, a teacher, coach and lifelong Stockton resident who died in 2004 at age 59.
