Delay doesn't stop Mustangs women's softball

  • STOCKTON - After being delayed for more than four hours to play, the Delta women's softball team let loose a barrage of hits to shut out Feather River College on Saturday at the Bucky Layland Softball Complex.
Delta's 11-0 nonleague victory was a welcome sign for coach Jim Fisher, whose team was shut out 1-0 at home just five days earlier. The Mustangs (4-1) belted eight hits, drew seven walks and had two hit-batsmen in the 5-inning affair over the Golden Eagles (3-3).
"The last two games we've not quite done it offensively, but today was good because we bounced back and got some knocks," said Fisher, whose team scored all its runs by the third inning.
