A little over a year ago, Aquira DeCosta was finishing her senior season at St. Mary’s High, with some iteration of the phrase “Baylor-bound” following the basketball star nearly every step of the way.
On Monday, she and the rest of the top-seeded Lady Bears are bound for the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight.
DeCosta, a freshman forward for Baylor, and her teammates will take on No. 2 Iowa at 4 p.m., with the game airing on ESPN2. The winner moves on to the Final Four, a victory away from playing for a national title.
