STANFORD, Calif. -- When it comes to promoting Christian McCaffrey's Heisman Trophy bid, Stanford's David Shaw had taken a rather reserved approach prior to this past Saturday. He said he preferred to let the running back's play do the talking, and when the Cardinal did actually release a promotional website for their sophomore star, it focused on how his gaudy numbers compared to historical greats -- and not this year's competition.
But after seeing McCaffrey lead Stanford to a Pac-12 North title while smashing Stanford's single game all-purpose yardage record with a 389-yard effort, the coach no longer restrained his campaign.
