Ever since the Ottawa Senators “lost” the draft lottery and were awarded the 3rd and 5th overall selections, there has been speculation that the team might look to trade up to get their hands on the number one pick. For the first few weeks, most of the noise was garden-variety message board stuff but at some point last week the volume got loud enough that it made its way into a couple of tweets from team reporters and other mainstream media types. Eventually, the Sens felt compelled to assure the masses that no, they were not trading the picks to move up to the top spot.
