The first road trip during the Ottawa Senators’ unlikely, inspiring and thrill-inducing playoff run came on Boston Marathon weekend.
When the post-season run finally came to an end with the shock of the double-overtime, Game 7 defeat to the Pittsburgh Penguins late last Thursday, the Senators arrived home to the National Capital Marathon weekend.
Those bookends are entirely fitting. The 19-game, 44-day playoff experience, including the first trip to the Eastern Conference final in a decade, offered up a marathon of emotions for the Senators and their fans.
