Senators still trying to figure out where everyone fits in lineup

OTTAWA — The auditions began in earnest for the Ottawa Senators on Monday night with the exhibition opener at the Canadian Tire Centre.

Once this pre-season back-to-back Battle of Ontario series against the Toronto Maple Leafs comes to a close at the Air Canada Centre on Tuesday night, Senators general manager Pierre Dorion and coach Guy Boucher will have a better idea of what the club’s lineup may look like on Opening Night Oct. 5 vs. the Washington Capitals.

At this point, there are a lot of balls in the air.

Though the Senators lineup should be pretty much set after getting eliminated in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins last spring, that’s hardly the case because there’s always changes every year and, in this case, some of those are being forced by injuries.
