Eugene Melnyk has received the gift of life.
The Senators confirmed in a news release the club’s owner underwent successful liver transplant surgery Tuesday at the Toronto General Hospital and the procedure was completed at 8:05 p.m. EST.
“Mr. Melnyk and the anonymous donor are both resting comfortably and doing well,” the club said in a statement.
The surgery comes just five days after the Senators went public with their plea that Melnyk, 55, needed a donor to stay alive.
