Ottawa’s Interesting 2010 Draft

The Senators had dealt their 1st round pick, 16th overall on draft night to the St.Louis Blues in exchange for David Rundblad. Rundblad was selected a year earlier, 17th overall.

The Senators acquired David Rundblad due to his potential. Ottawa would leave Rundblad in Sweden for the 2010-11 season. The young Defenseman looked like the next Swedish star, scoring 50 points in 55 games for Skellefteå AIK. Rundblad failed to reach his once so bright potential playing only 113 NHL games with 24 points.

After playing in just 24 games for the Senators, Runblad was dealt along with a 2011 2nd rounder to the Arizona Coyotes for Kyle Turris on December 17, 2011.
