Just three Senators who suited up for the entire playoff series against Montreal last spring accompanied the team for its exhibition tilt Wednesday against the Sabres at First Niagara Center.
Along with the three -- Mika Zibanejad, Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Curtis Lazar - they also brought Alex Chiasson and Colin Greening, as well as Matt Puempel and Shane Prince.
First rounder Thomas Chabot counted as one of the eight "veterans" teams must use in pre-season games.
"When you have young guys that are playing against veteran guys, they're going to force our team to play quicker, think quicker," coach Dave Cameron said before leaving Ottawa of the test against a more established Sabres lineup.
