Almost every day he would get off the ice after his teammates had changed, showered and were on their way home. He was drenched in sweat and, for about 10 minutes, remained flush and more interested in catching his breath than the idle chit chat he usually enjoys.
It’s easy to say he should have just retired after his fourth concussion in a year and a half — many of us did — but it is not our decision. He said he felt OK and was usually pretty convincing.
Clarke MacArthur was not prepared to move on to the next phase of his life.
