The Ottawa Senators have placed defenceman Fredrik Claesson on waivers.
If, as expected, Claesson clears, he will join the Binghamton Senators of the AHL.
The Senators roster is now at the league maximum 23 to start the season, not including injured wingers Clarke MacArthur and Curtis Lazar.
Lazar, who has become more involved in practice over the past several days, is hoping to get medical clearance Monday to be removed from the "no contact" status.
Rookie defenceman Thomas Chabot will remain with the team to start the season, but coach Guy Boucher said he will be the odd man out on the blue line for Wednesday's season opener against Toronto, when the club will employ the traditional 12 forwards and six defencemen.
