As Senators No. 1 centre Kyle Turris took a puck in the face and lay on the ice early in the third period against the Calgary Flames on Saturday, it symbolized plenty.
Like his team, Turris was down and out, ailing from head to toe. He was gone from the game and the game was gone from the Senators. The longshot hope of making the playoffs was gone, too.
Except, it wasn’t.
Out of nowhere, Mika Zibanejad re-emerged, re-discovering his long lost scoring touch with three goals in the blink of an eye, a 2:39 span which turned a 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 lead.
