After the 2023-24 season, the Ottawa Senators needed to sign a veteran leader who can produce offense. To do that, the Senators signed David Perron to a two-year contract at $4 million per year.
Prior to Ottawa, Perron recorded 103 points over the past two seasons with the Detroit Red Wings. Perron was also a former Stanley Cup champion with the St. Louis Blues in 2019. Along with being a former Stanley Cup champion, Perron had recorded 13 seasons of at least 40 points or more. Of his 13 seasons, five of them were 50-point seasons and two of them were 60-point seasons.
