Goaltender Anton Forsberg was part of the Ottawa Senators organization since the 2020-21 season. In the 2021-22 season, Forsberg had a career year and was destined to be the goaltender of the future in Ottawa.
However, inconsistencies became an issue with Forsberg for the next three seasons. This past free agency, Forsberg was an unrestricted free agent, but didn't re-sign in Ottawa. Instead, Forsberg signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Kings.
Prior to the Senators making their 2025-26 season opener, the Kings had two games on the schedule. One of which included Forsberg making a start to officially make his Kings debut.
