LONDON. ONT. - The Senators are closing in on Daniel Alfredsson's return in a front office role.
GM Bryan Murray confirmed Thursday club officials -- including owner Eugene Melnyk -- sat down with the former Senators captain Wednesday at the Canadian Tire Centre to continue discussions on an off-ice role and those are scheduled to go on through the weekend to see exactly where the 42-year-old Alfredsson will fit.
However, Alfredsson didn't accompany club officials to London for the four-team rookie tournament but if all goes well it's possible an announcement could be made before the players report for training camp next Thursday.
