The Nashville Predators on Friday signed Mike Fisher to a two-year, $8.8 million contract.
Fisher, who would have become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, will make $4.8 million next season and $4 million in 2016-17.
"I think this is a step toward having him finish his career in Nashville," general manager David Poile said via the Predators website. "I told Mike two years sounds good to me and I certainly hope it goes longer than this because he means a lot to our team, on and off the ice."
Fisher had 19 goals and 39 points in 59 regular-season games for the Predators this season, narrowly missing the seventh 20-goal season of his career.
