Jaroslav Holik, former Czech star forward, dies at 72

Jaroslav Holik, who helped his native Czechoslovakia win the Olympic bronze medal and World Championship gold in 1972, died at age 72, the Czech Ice Hockey Association announced Friday.

Holik is the father of former NHL center Bobby Holik.

Jaroslav Holik won seven Czechoslovakian league titles with HC Dukla Jihlava. He was a regular on Czechoslovakia national teams from 1964 to 1973, scoring 57 goals in 142 international games. He won a bronze medal at the 1972 Sapporo Olympics and months later won gold at the 1972 IIHF World Championship. He helped Czechoslovakia win silver medals at the World Championship in 1965 and 1966, and bronze medals in 1969, 1970 and 1973.
