The resignation of FIFA President Sepp Blatter has sent soccer's governing body into a tailspin, but it also presents it a chance to clean up its act, former U.S. Men's National Team player Cobi Jones said Wednesday.
"Everyone had a tough time understanding what was going on at FIFA, and I think FIFA sees now that this is the perfect time to come in and reorganize the situation and try to get the right people in there," he told CNBC's "Squawk on the Street."
Jones added he believes that, with Blatter out of the picture, the organization could bring in new leadership from the likes of former soccer superstars Luis Figo and Michel Platini, who currently heads UEFA, FIFA's European division.
