The Orlando Magic seemingly got their man when they hired Frank Vogel a few weeks ago to replace Scott Skiles after he suddenly resigned. It was a strange confluence of events that got Vogel, considered by many to be one of the very best coaches in the league, to Orlando.
First the Indiana Pacers had to decide not to renew Vogel’s contract after they took the Toronto Raptors to seven games. Then Scott Skiles had to resign suddenly.
Plenty of people at that time wanted to see Skiles go to go after a coach of Vogel’s caliber anyway.
