Before the NBA playoffs even started, Orlando Magic players, coaches and staff shared an emotional social justice video titled “Walk With Us.”
And so they did on Wednesday when they stood unified with the Milwaukee Bucks, who boycotted Game 5 of their Eastern Conference playoff series with the Magic to protest yet another Black American, Jacob Blake, being gunned down by police in Wisconsin.
In what will go down as the most powerful racial justice protest in the history of American sports, the cancellation of the Bucks-Magic game led to the unprecedented postponement of all NBA playoff games on Wednesday, followed by the cancellation of at least two Major League Baseball games and all WNBA games.
