Obviously, sports took a back seat this week when a violent mob of President Donald Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in a sad and pathetic scene you might have expected from a third-world country; not the greatest nation on earth.
Trump’s refusal to accept the results of the election, his penchant for stoking the flames of division and inciting the insurrection at the Capitol even caused staunchly conservative Betsy DeVos — Trump’s education secretary and part of the Orlando Magic’s ownership group — to resign.
In her resignation letter to Trump, DeVos said the behavior of rioters was “unconscionable” and pointed an accusing finger at the president by writing, “There is no mistaking the impact your rhetoric had on the situation, and it is the inflection point for me.
