The Orlando Magic, in collaboration with Nike, on Wednesday unveiled their fourth and final uniform of the 2017/18 season.
The City Edition of the Magic’s uniforms feature an outer space-inspired look, with an asymmetrical star pattern atop a blue gradient fabric. Rather than a team or city name, the jerseys instead display the Magic’s partial trailing basketball logo, rendered in greyscale. The uniform numbers appear below the logo and slightly off-center. According to the club, this new look “celebrates the magic that exists in our solar system and beyond.”
Regardless of what one thinks of this new kit—and it’s sure to polarize the Magic faithful—one ought to at least respect the team’s willingness to depart from its typical look.
