NBA sets draft date, indicates Dec. 25 is earliest next season could begin

As the NBA continues to explore a timetable for the 2020-21 season, the league has locked in one offseason date.

The league announced Wednesday the 2020 draft has been scheduled for Nov. 18. The NBA said the date remains subject to change as circumstances could dictate further shuffling.

The revised date gives teams time to carry out their pre-draft processes, gather more information about the potential start date for the 2020-21 season and allow for the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association to further discuss the collective bargaining agreement in regards to salary cap and luxury tax thresholds moving forward.
