Michael Carter-Williams gave Magic valuable minutes, mentorship for young players

Contract status: Carter-Williams completed the first year of a two-year, $6 million deal he signed in 2020. He is set to earn $3 million in 2021-22.

The veteran guard sprained his foot in a 103-83 win over the Cavaliers on Jan. 4 and missed the next 5½ weeks. He returned Feb. 12 and delivered 20 points, seven assists and seven rebounds — while exceeding his minutes restriction — starting in place of the injured Cole Anthony as the Magic beat the Kings 123-111. Carter-Williams went on to start 22 of his next 23 games.
