A buyout agreement between Orlando Magic draft pick Mario Hezonja and FC Barcelona has been finalized, said his agent, Arn Tellem.
The buyout clears the way for Hezonja to join the Magic immediately.
The Magic selected Hezonja with the fifth overall in the 2015 NBA Draft on Thursday.
Hezonja, a 6-foot-8 swingman from Croatia, is expected to improve the Magic’s outside shooting and give the team a dynamic scorer.
The Magic hadn’t selected a foreign player in the lottery portion of the draft since they picked big man Fran Vázquez 11th overall in 2005. But Vázquez chose not to play in the NBA, and the Vázquez episode created concerns among some Magic fans about the team drafting another European.
