Magic guard Markelle Fultz saw his season end essentially before it began

Contract status: Fultz completed the final year of the rookie-scale contract he signed in 2017. He signed a three-year, $50 million extension in December, and is set to earn $16.5 million in 2021-22.

The buzz: Fultz entered the season fully healthy for the first time in his career and was poised to make another leap in his progression as a starting point guard. But the season ended essentially before it started when he went down with an ACL tear Jan. 6 against the Cavaliers. He had surgery on Jan. 20.

Fultz twice eclipsed the 20-point mark in helping guide the Magic to a 5-2 start before his injury, which proved to be a devastating blow for the Magic.
