KZ Okpala, Cameron Johnson fit the mold for an Orlando Magic draft pick

Through two years of Orlando Magic president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman’s tenure, the team has developed a certain type with its draft picks.

Picking at the top of the draft — sixth overall the last two years — affords the team the chance to take a few risks and a few different kinds of players to draft. But Orlando’s entire draft history under Weltman has focused on two things — length and defensive acumen. Orlando seems confident it can teach players how to shoot.

With the way both Jonathan Isaac and Wesley Iwundu improved from their rookie to sophomore years, that is hard to argue there is some success.
