The host Wekiva Mustangs scored on five of their first six offensive possessions and cruised to a 46-7 football win over East River Thursday night.
Senior quarterback Junior Muratovic completed 7-of-16 passes for 123 yards and three passing touchdowns, guiding the offensive attack for Wekiva (1-0), which is ranked No. 9 in the preseason Sentinel Super 16.
Senior running back Chad Davis Jr. started the scoring for the Mustangs, rushing for two touchdowns and 114 yards — including a 41-yard touchdown run on Wekiva’s third play from scrimmage that set the tone for the evening.
Receivers Asaad Waseem (five receptions for 65 yards and two touchdowns) and Tekavion Purdy (two receptions for 51 yards and one touchdown) were Muratovic’s preferred targets before the starting quarterback was pulled at halftime.
