USWNT: Vlatko Andonovski names 20 player roster for Olympic qualifiers

For his first competition as the head coach of the United States women’s national team, Vlatko Andonovski has named a squad of 20 for Olympic qualifiers, cutting several World Cup winners.

High profile cuts were likely coming — the Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament rules only allow for a squad size of 20 as opposed to the World Cup’s 23.

However, Andonovski decided to add two players who did not go last summer’s World Cup to his roster in midfielder Andi Sullivan and forward Lynn Williams. Both have been standouts for their club teams, the Washington Spirit and the North Carolina Courage, respectively, and have previous national team involvement.
