U.S. women’s national team star Alex Morgan will not be available for the Orlando Pride’s first match at Exploria Stadium since the Tokyo Olympics this weekend.
The Pride will face the Portland Thorns on Saturday with fellow Olympians Marta, Ali Riley and gold medalist Erin McLeod returned to the available lineup.
Coach Becky Burleigh said Morgan currently plans to return to market on August 18 ahead of the team’s August 18 road match against the Washington Spirit. The striker might not be available at that time, however, as she continues to recover from an injury incurred during the bronze medal match.
