The United States Men’s National Team opens up its 2017 Gold Cup in Nashville tonight against Panama.
This is set to be the 19th match between the two countries, with the Yanks dominating the series. The U.S. is 12-2-4 all time against Los Canaleros and 5-1-3 in Gold Cup play. Although Panama has trouble coming out on top, it nearly always manages to keep it close. Only twice has the U.S. won by more than two goals — a 6-0 win in 2004 and a 3-0 win in 2005 — and half of the wins have been decided by one goal.
