As the Miami Hurricanes open spring football practices on Monday, UM coach Manny Diaz offered several injury updates for players on Friday.

Junior tight end Will Malloy and defensive tackle Nesta Silvera are out for the spring. Diaz said both are having “maintenance work done on their shoulders.”

Junior cornerback Al Blades Jr., who had his fall season cut short due to a myocarditis diagnosis that followed his positive COVID-19 case, has been cleared, but Diaz said “is now simply just working back toward fitness.”

“We’re being very cautious with Al, in terms of bringing him back,” Diaz said.
