UCF head coach Gus Malzahn addressed the addition of quarterback transfer Joey Gatewood to the Knights football program on Tuesday and had high praise for his former player at Auburn.
“First of all, Joey is an excellent human being,” Malzahn said about Gatewood. “He’s a very talented young man that obviously I coached before.”
Gatewood, who is now officially listed on the team’s roster online, announced his decision to transfer to UCF over social media and enrolled at the university on Monday. Gatewood will the wear the uniform No. 7 for UCF according to the roster.
