Following an invite extended from the Big 12 Conference Board of Directors, the UCF Board of Trustees voted unanimously Friday for the Knights to join the Power Five conference.
“The first day of competition for the Knights can’t get here soon enough,” Big 12 CommissionerBobBowlsby said in a press conference shortly after the move was made official.
“In the case of BYU, they will be coming in on July 1, 2023 and in the case of UCF, Cincinnati and Houston, they will be coming in no later than July 1, 2024,” Bowlsby said. “There is some flexibility in the first competition but at the present time, we don’t know the exact starting date for three of the four.
