Krishen Atwal scored 29 and Javon Bennett added 28 points to help the Trinity Prep Saints overcome cold third-quarter shooting and outlast The First Academy 75-71 Tuesday in a Class 3A Region 1 boys basketball semifinal.
Trinity Prep (9-8) plays Andrew Jackson, a 58-37 winner over Bishop Snyder, in Friday’s Region 1-3A final. Trinity Prep made it to the region final for the first time since 2016, while Andrew Jackson is trying to make its third consecutive final.
Atwal had five 3-pointers, including four in the first half for the Saints, who split the season series 2-2 against TFA (15-9), and this game was as close as the series.
