Toronto FC players encounter massive alligator while training near Orlando

Toronto FC received a friendly Florida welcome to training on Monday when a massive alligator crashed a practice session at ChampionsGate Resort south of Orlando.

A ChampionsGate staffer came to the players’ rescue, using a golf cart to chase the animal away from the training facility. At one point in a video shared by the club, the staffer stepped off the cart and grabbed the gator’s tail, provoking it to run the opposite direction while Toronto players shouted and yelled in shock.

Toronto coach Chris Armas said his players ran straight toward the alligator to get a closer look when it first appeared while the coach beelined in the opposite direction.
